It was the late great James Brown who once said "we're dealing with a very critical and crucial time", and although he said it as long ago as 1973 in the song Mind Power, this statement is just as pertinent today in regard to these strange days we find ourselves living in.
If you find out that everything you know is wrong, where do you find truth? And when the world has gone crazy, how do you find the right road to walk down? These are the kinds of questions that I like to explore in my music...I know it won't be for everyone. My words and music might touch your soul, or leave you either cold or indifferent, but I am in the music.... what you take from it is personal to you.
I was born by the river, in a little tent, errr, not really ... I was born in London during the first Summer of Love 1967. For over twenty years, I have worked as a live and studio musician, sound designer, sound engineer, programmer, editor and producer. I've worked on records with brilliant producers, engineers, bands and artists... (many of them in the right hand column) Everything I could think of perhaps, except release my own music...... but hey, it's no big deal... almost everyone has got an album they want to make.
Much to the amusement and even bewilderment of friends and family, I have been resolutely working away on my own, developing my music.. "Johnny is really busy... but what exactly is he doing?" Hopefully it now makes sense!
For those of you who are interested...
I write, arrange, produce and mix the music myself. I play and program all the instruments and sing all the vocals... I love the old music, rock n roll, soul, funk and 60s pop... and especially the sound of the old records; my favourite record labels had a signature sound and that is what I am aiming for with the launch of my first four albums on my label Stonejam Recordings and also the new projects that I am working on.
There is more to say but I'll save that for the blog. This website will evolve over time so be sure to check back if you'd like to know more.

Perhaps we'll meet further on up the road ... if not, maybe I'll see you on the other side of this dream.
These are critical and crucial times indeed,
Mr Brown!
